FABCA expresses its condolences to the family and friends of all those personally touched by the violence this past week in France. We recognize the courage of writers and artists everywhere that Je Suis Charlie now represents. We honor the memory of those who gave their lives to remind the world that freedom of expression is a right that society should not take for granted, and we deplore the ensuing violence that resulted in the loss of life beyond the offices of Charlie Hebdo, as ordinary citizens went about the peaceful business of living their everyday lives. Vive l’amitié Franco-Americaine:
“On behalf of all Americans, I extend our deepest sympathy and solidarity to the people of France following the terrible terrorist attack in Paris. As allies across the centuries, we stand united with our French brothers and sisters to ensure that justice is done and our way of life is defended. We go forward together knowing that terror is no match for freedom and the ideals we stand for —ideals that light the world.
Vive la France!”
